WordPress plugins for user-submitted & user-generated content

WordPress plugins for user-submitted & user-generated content

It’s 2012, and more and more sites and blogs are looking for ways to further their user’s involvement, many taking example from, perhaps, one of the more polished of these sites, Buzzfeed.com.

What makes Buzzfeed different from sites such as

Digg.com, which offers users a chance to vote on articles pulled from all over the web (the recent, highest rated articles, being the ones posted on the front page), is that it provides a front-end interface through which users can post their own articles, along with a similar style system to Digg, allowing you to share your ‘reaction’ on other articles. How to speed up your website

How to speed up your website

Site speed is one of the most important things about creating web content, and web applications.

In fact, it has been noted by various analysts at Google that people don’t often sit through the first 30 seconds of a video, much less the first 15, so it would be wise of you to get the content of your site loaded as fast as you can so that people can make a judgement and agree to either use it or not.

Optimizing your site should be a top priority, and often times when using WordPress and other engines they have nice plugins that help. John Carter

John Carter

What does it take to create a planet? A lot more effort than can fit in a seven day week. Ask the hundreds of artists at Cinesite who spent two years creating Martian environments, cities and airships for Disney’s film John Carter, or the 120 animators plus several hundred in the supporting cast at Double Negative who created the big green aliens who populated the planet. Peter Chiang was visual effects supervisor at Double Negative for the film with visual effects supervisor Sue Rowe managing the crew at Cinesite. Also playing god for the action-adventure film was the Moving Picture Company where artists supervised by Adam Valdez created even bigger green aliens and visual effects for the “Warhoon” battle sequence.
